Hope For the Flowers by Trina Paulus

A caterpillar was born. At first he believes all there is too life was eating leaves and getting bigger; but soon got bored with it and decided to explore beyond what he knew. He crawls, searching for something, anything, to tell him there is more to life. After a while he comes across other caterpillars and tries to ask what they know but, sadly, they are too busy eating. So he moves on and finds a plethora of caterpillars all going in the same direction; intrigued, he follows and discovers a tower of caterpillars all climbing to get to the top. Ecstatic, he believes he has found his answer and joins in the climb. For days it seems as if all he did was climb but was getting nowhere close to the top. He meets a yellow caterpillar and together they decide to leave the tower and be on their own. Love blooms and they’re content with each other’s company. But as time goes by, he wants to find out what is at the top. He leaves her, heart-broken, and goes back to the tower. Depressed, she wandered listlessly, unsure of what to do. She comes across another caterpillar in the process of turning into a butterfly. Fascinated, she tries it and finds true happiness. While that happened, he had gotten to the top, only to find there was nothing there. Deflated he climbs down, telling everyone there’s nothing there. Halfway down, he spots something yellow and realizes it’s her! His love had come for him, hadn’t given up. She takes him to where she turned into a butterfly and encourages him to do it as well. Soon they are together as butterflies and fly off into eternal bliss.
