Summary: Alice is a little girl who has a big imagination. One afternoon she is playing outside when she sees a White Rabbit who seems to be in a bit of a hurry. He soon scurries down his hole. Alice is intrigued and is not far behind him when she realizes she has fallen down the rabbit hole. Once she is able to compose herself she sees a hallway full of doors. The one she chooses is much too small for her. Luckily, she fins a potion that will shrink her to fit..but she shrinks too much and has to find a biscuit that will cause her too grow. But in the same manner, she grows too much. She begins to cry causing a giant pool of tears to flood the hallway. She meets many animals swimming around in the giant pool. Finally, she escapes after offending a few of these new-found friends--a mouse who does not like the idea of being eaten by her cat. She then stumbles upon several other friends. A caterpillar smoking a hookah. A creepy cat who confuses her on which way she should go. And finally, she comes upon a queen who is rather strict. Her guards being a deck of cards. And if they mess up it is "off with their head!" Eventually, Alice wakes up only to find that the her tea is ready and that the entire thing had been but a dream. This book is a most marvelous one for children because it teaches them to dream and imagine. It teaches them not to conform or "fall down the rabbit hole." It teaches them how to be young and in a world that forces children to grow up too fast, we all need to remember how it was to be young.
