Age Range: For infants or children in preschoolSummary: This is a story about a lion who could never get enough to eat. He chased a different animal every day, but he got so hungry chasing the other animals, he was always hungry. Finally the other animals get together and appoint a rabbit to talk to the lion about his eating habits. The rabbit is honored to be chosen and goes up to the lion and invites him to dinner at his house. When they get to the rabbit’s house they find his ten brothers and sisters preparing a big pot of carrot stew. The stew smells delicious and the lion is served as much carrot stew as he can eat. When he finishes his stew, they serve him a dessert of fresh berries. After his meal, he is not hungry any more and the rabbits all sit on the lion’s lap and sing and play. The next morning, it is time to go back to his usual routine, but he does not want to chase the other animals – he wants to go back to the rabbits’ house and have more carrot stew. Of course, the other animals are happy for their reprieve and think the rabbit is wonderful. The lion and the rabbit family, however, are best friends.
