The Large and Growly Bear by Gertrude Crampton

Genre: Fiction/Picture Book
Age Range: For infants or children in preschool
Summary: One morning, the Large and Growly Bear wakes up with nothing to do so he decides to go and frighten the animals. When he tries to frighten the bluebirds, they tell him not to wake their babies. When he tries to frighten the rabbits, they tell him they are counting and not to get them mixed up. No one is frightened by him at all. Finally he decides to go and frighten the fish in the river. When he looks in the river, he sees a large and growly bear looking back at him and becomes frightened and runs away. His attempts to frighten others have only frightened himself. This is a cute picture book and a fun read for children. It has cute illustrations and would be a great interactive read-aloud story.
