Genre: Non-fiction/Picture Book
Age Range: 6 and up
Summary: This book is a picture book which tells many facts about the oceans of the earth. It explains that water continually circulates from the oceans, to become vapor, then rain, then rivers and streams which flow into the seas of the earth once again. It talks about many of the creatures that live in the oceans. It explains that islands are really great mountains jutting out from the ocean floor, and that while many plants and animals live on the ocean shelf, in other places the ocean is five miles deep and has very little plant life, although some sea creatures do live there. Finally, the author explains that pollution and over-fishing are causing the extinction of some varieties of plants and fish. The author urges the reader to take care of the oceans, for our very lives depend on it.
